Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Download PDF and Print-quality PDF?
Download PDF creates the file in your browser with no print dialog. Each page is an image of your HTML, so the text is not selectable and @media print rules do not apply. Print-quality PDF opens your browser's print dialog, where you choose Save as PDF. Your browser creates that file, so the text stays selectable.
Is my HTML uploaded?
No. The preview, the direct PDF and the printing all happen in your browser, and external resources are blocked by default. The page does download the code needed to run the tool. If you turn on remote resources, your browser may contact the external sites your HTML refers to, so only do that for HTML you trust.
Will it match the preview exactly?
Closely, but not always. For Print-quality PDF your browser decides the real page breaks, and @media print rules only apply there, so the preview is an approximation. Download PDF cuts the page into pages of the chosen size, so an element at a page boundary can be split across two pages.
Does JavaScript run?
No. Scripts are removed and the preview is sandboxed. Use HTML and CSS only.
Why are images, fonts or styles from other websites missing?
They are blocked by default, so pasted HTML cannot make your browser contact other sites. You can turn on "Remote resources" to see them in the preview and the print dialog, but they are not part of your document, and Download PDF never includes them. For a reliable result, use inline CSS and data: URLs.
