About

YoussefLabs

A collection of useful browser tools built to make common file, text, developer and everyday tasks simple.

Why I built it

Useful online tools are often cluttered. Many ask you to make an account for a simple job, and some send your file to a server when they do not need to.

I built YoussefLabs to make these tasks fast and straightforward: open a tool, do the job, and leave. Where it is technically practical, the work happens in your browser, because what you open should not have to leave your device.

Local-first by design

Every tool here today runs directly in your browser. A file you open in a local tool is read, processed and returned by the browser itself, so it does not need to travel to a server. The page downloads the code a tool needs to run; your content is not part of that.

  1. Your device

Your file or text stays here.

  2. A YoussefLabs tool

    Runs in your browser tab.

  3. Result

Shown to you, or saved to your device.

In a local tool, no server sits on this path: nothing you open is sent anywhere to be processed.
  • Tools use what the browser already provides where practical, instead of loading heavy libraries.
  • Chat Explorer can open an exported chat, including a ZIP that holds photos and voice notes, and inspect it on your device.
  • If an online or AI feature is ever added, it will say clearly when the information you selected leaves local processing, and it will only happen when you ask. There are none today.

Built as a real engineering project

YoussefLabs is built with Next.js and TypeScript. Each tool loads only when you open it, and processing happens in the browser. I care about accessibility (keyboard use and clear labels), layouts that work from small phones to wide screens, performance, and automated tests that guard all of it.

About the creator

YoussefLabs is created and maintained by Youssef Amir, a software developer building web tools, AI products and experiments.
